IF ONLY WE COULD

by John Yeo

If only we could…

Stay fit and healthy forever without the need for medical attention, ever.

If only we could…

Defeat the aging process allowing our minds and souls to enjoy cerebral pleasure.

If only we could…

Discover everything we need to know without the need of study to be eternally clever.

If only we could…

See beneath the surface of our minds and to just love and care for one another.

If only we could…

Amalgamate our beliefs and live happily together following a single dream forever.

If only we could…

Learn to live without fighting or warfare and we were happy to live peacefully together.

If only we could…

Share our resources and grow sufficient food in this world without starvation wherever.

If only we could…

Find that special soulmate and live happily with the love of a life spent together.

If only we could… If only!!

LUCIDITY EPITOMIZED

by John Yeo

The clarity was crystal clear

Every word was clearly defined,

As the solution began to appear

The facts were simply refined,

The answer was finally here

Born in the cells of a lucid mind.

Cold emotion helped to steer

Lucidity to the undefined.

PROMPT ~ Eleven Hours

ELEVEN HOURS

by John Yeo

The feeling came through like a bolt from the blue

The first hour passed quickly, the idea was exciting

My mind resonated with love through and through.

~

During the second hour I decided to approach you

I hesitated for the third hour, your love was inviting

The feeling came through like a bolt from the blue.

~

The long fourth hour my feelings hard to construe

As the fifth hour arrived and left like lightning

My mind resonated with love through and through.

~

Then came the sixth hour with my thoughts askew

Melding into the seventh the idea so enticing

The feeling came through like a bolt from the blue.

~

Hour eight I stopped thinking yet the time still flew

On the ninth hour with the fires of my feelings ignited

My mind resonated with love through and through.

~

Hour ten and my confidence just grew and grew

At the eleventh hour I knelt down and asked you

Your reply came through like a bolt from the blue

My feelings resonated with love through and through.

A TIMELESS APPROACH

WEDNESDAY 30th SEPTEMBER 2020

Today’s prompt ~ A TIMELESS APPROACH

A TIMELESS APPROACH

by John yeo

  The world is threatened by a new virus that seems to be indiscriminately killing many people who come into contact;

with its deadly infectious spoors.

Everywhere people are standing and fighting with every possible weapon at their disposal.

A timeless approach.

~

People dying all over the world, suffering in agonising ways

this disease kills indiscriminately from labourers to Kings;

Heroes; medical people wearing PPE.

Many public places are closed and forbidden, theatres, cinemas and churches; our prayers are said in private.

A timeless approach.

~

The fighting guidelines rapidly change, almost on a daily basis, masks worn in public places and social distancing everywhere, observed.

Some scoff at the measures in place and construct conspiracy theories as the fight goes on.

A timeless approach.

~

Pandemics have come and gone, throughout the historical record, instant exchange of information, the touch of a button throughout the world; the modern weapon.

Collating; sharing information through the media is no substitute for hands on care,

A timeless approach.

Weekend Writing Prompt #176 – Zany

INZANEINESS

by John Yeo

The doorbell chimed as the family gathered.

A large scruffily-dressed man was revealed on the doorstep wearing a monocle.

An enormous black bow tie was roughly tied around his neck.

His grey hair, hung down beneath a battered top hat.

‘I’m here for my funeral.’

‘Get out of here!’  was the reaction.

‘I will when you bury me.’  came the zany reply.

Today’s prompt ~ MAKING ‘ME’ TIME

MAKING ‘ME’ TIME

by John Yeo

A tiny spark of dormancy waits for revival,

Encased in a fuzzy cloud of mundanity.

When time and the mixture of conditions allow

Growth begins from within the uncertainty.

A creation of beauty is coming slowly together.

Using my time making ‘Me time.’

~

The beauty and the perils that await the entity,

As a fragile life becomes stronger with time.

The magical moment when a muddle of words

Takes a solid shape in a rough draft outline.

A creation shaped slowly with poetic guidance.

Shaping my time into ‘Me time.’

~

Words encased with fine vibrancy, line by line.

Ringing through the portals of the poet’s mind.

The entity that grew from a shapeless design.

A thing of beauty with strength and fluidity

Produced and nurtured from a tiny seedling.

A vision; then the growth of beauty in words.

A creation inspired during ‘Me time.’

MEGALITH

SATURDAY 19th SEPTEMBER 2020 ~ FLASH FICTION

Weekend Writing Prompt #175 – Megalith

MEGALITH

by John Yeo

The billionaire concentrated his mind on his demise.

The diagnosis was irrefutable and terminal.

I plan to erect the biggest megalith on Earth.

Sunk deep in the ground, visible from outer Space.

My huge memorial stone will contain my epitaph.

Money talks, money rules, I’m finally free from money.

WISDOM TEETH WOES

by John Yeo

I feel as the time for the operation gets close

The impact of the decision is becoming clear

I’m suffering from dreadful wisdom teeth woes.

~

When I heard the decision my heart just froze

I can imagine the effects with a deepening fear

I feel as the time for the operation gets close.

~

The pain I’m suffering isn’t a psychological pose.

Nothing on earth will bring any lighthearted cheer

I’m suffering from dreadful wisdom teeth woes.

~

The pain fills my mouth and reaches my nose

This horrendous feeling of pain becomes clear

I feel as the time for the operation gets close

~

Painkillers are tempting my head to propose

Glasses of whiskey with many bottles of beer

I’m suffering from dreadful wisdom teeth woes.

~

I can’t sleep or concentrate, my mind has just froze

I spend hours in continuous pain so severe

I feel as the time for the operation gets close.

I’m suffering from dreadful wisdom teeth woes.
