Today’s prompt is, ‘In a class all her own’

IN A CLASS ALL HER OWN

by John Yeo

It was just intellectually incredible

When this super poem came together,

The reaction would surely be inevitable.

My loving thoughts began to be sown.

The first few drafts were absolutely disposable

The meaning cloaked with words so clever

My mind expressed love with words alone.

A polished accomplishment purely sensual

An approach to the heart with love forever,

I adore her, she’s in a class all her own.

~

The words make sense, a beautiful parable

Designed from the heart bringing pleasure,

Paying court to a woman in a class of her own.

Our mutual attraction still unbelievable

Two hearts joined by forces never to sever,

Our lifelines should never again be alone

A super relationship with love conceptual

A single lifeline with words to treasure.

It’s just so intellectually incredible

I adore her, she’s in a class all her own.

Today’s prompt ~THE WEIGHT OF HIS AFFECTIONS

THE WEIGHT OF HIS AFFECTIONS

by John Yeo

Her heart was overwhelmed by his obvious attractions,

Tenderly she loved him and tried hard to understand.

Slowly she was adjusting to the weight of his affections.

~

Realising the depth of her strong romantic reactions,

She did her best to unravel them strand by strand.

Her heart was overwhelmed by his obvious attractions.

~

Her feelings were ignited and inflamed her connections

Though she slowly began to understand his demand

Slowly she was adjusting to the weight of his affections.

~

She felt dizzy, submerged, moving in many directions

As if she were permanently living in a dreamland.

Her heart was overwhelmed by his obvious attractions.

~

Her mind desperately searched for obvious distractions

These strange reactions could have never been planned,

Slowly she was adjusting to the weight of his affections.

~

Her greatest fear that these were simply overreactions

On both sides of the relationship the flames had been fanned.

Her heart was overwhelmed by his obvious attractions.

Slowly she was adjusting to the weight of his affections.

Today’s prompt ~ A FRACTION OF A FORTUNE

A FRACTION OF A FORTUNE

by John Yeo

‘You see buddy this is the California gold rush.

People are travelling vast distances across America

To reach the diggings or pan the rivers for gold.

They say you just put a pan in a stream for a minute

Then separate pure gold dust from the oozing mud.

~

Yup! This California gold rush has made people rich.

I can show you something that will help you decide.

Something sitting right here in the palm of my hand

A shiny yellow nugget of pure untarnished gold.

Sell up your possessions and join the wagon train.

~

It will cost just a fraction of your future fortune.

Then you will never have to work ever again.

The diggings have huge veins of precious rock.

Like this tiny nugget of pure untarnished gold

That represents just a fraction of a fortune.’

~

I closely inspected the precious nugget of freedom,

My mind spotted the impurities lodged in the rock.

It had the feel of riches and promised wealth untold.

Buddy, I hesitate to give you an unwarranted shock

This fool’s gold will always be a fraction of your fortune.

Today’s prompt ~ NIGHTS IN STARVIEW HEIGHTS

NIGHTS IN STARVIEW HEIGHTS

by John Yeo

The height of happiness is attained

With the antidote to unhappiness,

Contentment with peace of mind maintained.

A water filled oasis on land reclaimed

An umbrella on a rainswept day

The height of happiness is attained.

Found during nights in Starview Heights.

Saturating floodwater safely drained

Fertile soil to grow fresh healthy food

Contentment with peace of mind maintained.

The storm recedes, normality regained,

The sun shines after the constant rain,

The height of happiness is attained

Spending our nights in Starview Heights.

CRIMSON CLOVER COMPASSIONS

by John Yeo

Whenever cruelty or hurt excites my passion

Which is quite often in a heartless cold world.

I console myself with crimson clover compassions.

~

I feel the hurt of the oppressed with my imagination

When the litany of heartbreak is daily unfurled.

Whenever cruelty or hurt excites my passion.

~

Crimson clover delights, nourishing high expectation

Pacifying my feelings with my tension uncurled.

I console myself with crimson clover compassions.

~

The scent of the clover leads to high expectation

Of solutions to sadness and a pain free realworld.

Whenever cruelty or hurt excites my passion.

~

Crimson clover stems the tide of relentless libations

When the problems that beset us are twisted and hurled

I console myself with crimson clover compassions.

~

Floral power and evil have no compatible relation

Compassion will be felt in my personal dreamworld,

Whenever cruelty or hurt excites my passion

I console myself with crimson clover compassions.

Today’s prompt ~ A GENUINE GENIUS

A GENUINE GENIUS

by John Yeo

The inventor’s name was Sir Ponsonby-Smythe

A man who thought of almost everything,

The wonderful news was he was still alive.

~

A genuine genius who would always strive

To attain his goal and forge an upswing.

The inventor’s name was Sir Ponsonby-Smythe.

~

He managed to blow himself up yet survive

His angelic thoughts simply took wing,

The wonderful news was he was still alive.

~

When Death arrived he snatched the scythe

Refusing to accept Death’s deadly sting,

The inventor’s name was Sir Ponsonby-Smythe.

~

He would lapse into unconsciousness, then revive,

His genius brain cells would sparkle and zing,

The wonderful news was he was still alive.

~

Our genuine genius simply refused to connive

Or succumb to any unfortunate downswing.

The inventor’s name was Sir Ponsonby-Smythe.

The wonderful news was he was still alive.

TRESPASSING IN PARADISE

by John Yeo

Many  official vessels from different navies

United in a common cause,

To stem a very sad tide.

A tidal wave of unfortunate people.

Fleeing their homelands

Through fear and persecution.

~

The United forces of the comfortable world,

Come together to save the lives

Of the refugees from oppression.

Crammed into unsafe vessels

Preyed on for profit by cheats and thieves.

Led to Death by drowning in cruel rough seas.

~

Divided by cause, culture and strife,

The refugees from hard pressed lands

Arrive to find salvation in a makeshift camp.

To ask for asylum and begin a new life

The saviours argue the point,

Divided by the situation of overpopulation.

~

Can this worldwide tragedy really be true?

In paradise there is much dissatisfaction.

Some people’s lives are seriously askew

Driving them to consider emigration,

Legal or illegal it’s not very nice,

To persecute people for trespassing in paradise.

LET’S NEVER SAY GOODBYE

Today’s prompt ~ LET’S NEVER SAY GOODBYE

LET’S NEVER SAY GOODBYE

TWINS

by John Yeo

I can’t really say goodbye
Without heaving an enormous sigh.

My heart will never be free.

Our unique interaction is high,
An association by connection,
With a deep affinity of dual relation.

Emblazoned with individual ennui
That melds into a single accordance
Of telepathic communication.

Our separate lives continue to rely
On dual memories of times gone by.
Our minds are focused ever higher.

The years pass slowly by,

Slipping, sliding, yet gracefully shy,
We hesitate to finally say goodbye.

Keep in touch with me,
I’ll miss you so much as time goes by.

Just let’s never say goodbye.

I AM THE WEEKEND

Today’s prompt ~ I AM THE WEEKEND

I AM THE WEEKEND

by John Yeo

Monday said to Tuesday, ‘Although I start a fresh new week.

For some I’m an undesirable day. I blame the laid back attitudes generated by the weekend.’

Tuesday nodded in reply and said. ‘I know! I follow you week in week out. Most people haven’t even got over the weekend freedom generated by the absence of stress and financial pressures of the regulated working week when they wake up with me.’

Wednesday then arrived on the scene bringing the midweek blues. ‘I’m neither one thing or the other, the settled routine is now in charge and the weekend just gone, is as far away as the weekend to come. I feel the clockwork week in motion.’

Thursday was wistful and feeling the strain, that weekend feeling was clearly on the way again. ‘My spirits are lifting, the reason is clear, The weekend is once again drawing near.’

Then comes Friday with the promise of the two days to come.

‘My day will end with all cares on the run. I herald a weekend of freedom for some, when I merge with Saturday and Sunday and we three become one. We take delight when my day turns to night.

I am the weekend.’

YOU INSPIRE ME TO INSPIRE YOU

(Dedicated to Margaret)

by John Yeo

I will succeed. You inspire me to inspire you.

You’re feeding my constitution with total admiration

You realise you affect me through and through.

~

My feelings build on your feelings, heartfelt and true

You lift me up. I’m suffused with inspiration.

I will succeed. You inspire me to inspire you.

~

Since we met, these feelings grew and grew.

I’m searching desperately for causation

You realise you affect me through and through.

~

Our mutual admiration is impossible to subdue

Admiration grows with a slow gestation.

I will succeed. You inspire me to inspire you.

~

Our thoughts come together in a colourful hue

Our relationship is built on a firm foundation.

You realise you affect me through and through.

~

Caring with sharing a love strong and true

An ongoing love with a continuous flirtation.

I will succeed. You inspire me to inspire you.

You realise you affect me through and through.
