MYSTERIOUS ISLAND (9)
by John Yeo
Diamond Jack had his hideout next to the Rattle Snake river.
Jack a wolf whisperer was famous for his efforts to reintroduce the gray wolf into the wild, 300 miles away in New Hampshire. The Brigadier had recruited him to go on ahead and prepare the way for the assault on the Alaskan laboratory.
Marg and Angelo boarded a small boat and approached the complex by water. A torchlight twinkled as arranged and they landed to find Jack. Grinning he said he had taken out the wolves using knockout drops delivered by darts and they had just one hour to do the job. Angelo and Jack went off to deal with the guards, and lay the explosives leaving Marg to infiltrate the building alone.
Shooting broke out in the grounds. A figure dashed out followed by a large wolf. The firing got closer and Marg took the opportunity to enter the lab. Suddenly there was a mighty explosion!
Some days later……………

Ah.. I still assume that Marg made it through the explosion.. Maybe Dr Dickus had more aces up his sleeve
Who knows? ~ This is showing some worrying trends! ~ I certainly hope all turns out for the best~ Thanks for your response Bjorn ~ 🙂
I’m curious to see what happens next. Will the wolves wake before they complete their mission? It would be neat to see you connect the next story prompt to this story. Cool story idea.
My curiosity is aroused too Lisa ~ I’m pretty sure there will be trouble ahead~ The connection to the next prompt is certainly the next challenge ~ My friend Babs will dictate the always excellent prompt next Monday 🙂
Oh no, I hope Marg is okay! I reckon she is, she seems to live a charmed life.
I agree Ali ~I have a feeling she is too stubborn to get snuffed out yet ~Her charm should see her through the tightest situation ~
I hope that Marg gets out of this OK! Suspenseful! Thank you John for participating again! I cannot wait to see what you weave on the next challenge for the Brigadier and Marg! Be well… ^..^
Many thanks Babs for your supportive comment and for providing such versatile prompts ~ A weaver always needs good yarn to keep the flow going ~ 🙂
You are indeed a good weaver!
Great effort john I like how you are joining the stories so ‘seamlessly’…..
Thanks Michael ~ I have to stretch the cloth to fit sometimes but they seem to be coming out well ~ 🙂
A continuous story… my you are brave. I liked part 9.
Thanks Ted ~ This is just an idea that I had to stretch my writing skills and hone them up a bit ~ I love these flash fiction challenges ~ 🙂
I enjoyed reading your piece of writing. Makes you wonder what happens next. 😀
Yes! I wonder about that too scrapydotwo ~ Marg is a very versatile lady ~ I hope 🙂 ~Thanks for taking the time to read this and comment~
You are welcome!
I’m sure Marg could teach 007 a lesson or two. I just know she won’t be dead -she’ll have walked out of that explosion without a hair out of place. She’s such a smart cookie. i like the idea of the tranquiliser darts used on the wolves instead of bullets, though your last paragraph would suggest that one wolf evaded the dart. Great read, John.
Thanks Millie~ The surviving wolf is the pet of Dr Dickus ~ Rumoured to never leave his side ~ Thanks again for taking the time to read this and comment ~ 🙂
Why are they blowing up the Alaskan laboratory? I’m looking forward to hearing more about that “secretive” wolf.
The attack is in retribution for an assualt on Don Fransisco’s house in part four. The wolf is an interesting addition to the tale as the story unfolds ~
Good continuation, John. Once more you’ve left us with a cliffhanger. I know we’re looking forward to the next episode. Well done. 🙂 — Suzanne
I hope I can keep up the flow Suzanne ~ Watch this space ~ Thanks for your comment 🙂
