Daily Nature Log ✍️
A brisk two-stage trek through the town today under a 16 mph breeze and mild 17°C skies. The seafront was bustling with shoppers and dog walkers, but the local birdlife stole the show.

Low-flying feral pigeons skimmed the incoming waves while thirty more held assembly on a nearby rooftop, clearly waiting on their regular local feeders. Out towards the local wind farm, a solitary cormorant posed on a groyne for a quick photo, whilst a juvenile herring gull glided lazily over the waves.

Looping back through the town past more four-legged promenaders.

Section two shifted to a local route.
Beside the sports ground, a sprawling green carpet of feverfew weeds had aggressively claimed the sunburnt turf—a cracking display of survival of the fittest amidst the drought. After spotting a pair of young gulls raiding the green cricket pitch and a vibrant splash of yellow corn marigold along Cemetery Drive, I made my way home under the noisy chorus of the local gull colony.
