Daily Nature Log. 26th August 2026

A sleepy Pitbull Terrier

Daily Nature Log ✍️
The sun beamed down at 21°C as an easterly breeze swept across the path. On the recreation ground, over thirty corvids pecked amidst vibrant green shoots, while resilient white yarrow and mauve mallow defied last week’s dry spell. Small cabbage white butterflies fluttered effortlessly against the wind, and a single wood pigeon darted into the cemetery hedge.

Passing a familiar garden, the resident ‘friendly’ Pitbull Terrier barely batted an eye from his sun-baked spot. Further along the cemetery road, the wind gathered strength, bringing a refreshing chill past the Holm Oaks.

Brambles laced with ripe blackberries entwined around a flowering buddleia, while a lone gull drifted lazily over the golf course and four feral pigeons stood to attention along the leisure centre roof. Rounding off the stroll to the distant whine of a circular saw, tree surgeons worked high up on a cherry picker, cutting back the canopy.
