Daily Nature Log ✍️
A chilly 7 mph southerly wind brought a “feels like” 10°C to today’s stroll, keeping me off the muddy playing fields. Nature was out in force nonetheless! Two jackdaws dropped into the grass beneath the pine trees, while a solitary wood pigeon braved the breeze on a nearby rooftop.
Passing the leisure centre, I spotted the local “feral pigeon squadron”—thirty strong—lined up like sentinels on the roof. Very light rain picked up near the cemetery, where a brave, tiny wren darted straight across the busy road. On the loop back, a noisy gull held court on a private roof, a sparrow slipped into the hawthorn hedge by the care home, and over twenty corvids, two common gulls, and a juvenile herring gull enjoyed a feast of rainwater-driven worms on the rec.
