Daily Nature Log ✍️
The sky hung dark and ominous as I set off, umbrella in hand. With a fresh 21 mph westerly wind making 17°C feel more like 16°C, a couple out with two lively brown spaniels looked in a hurry to dodge the impending downpour.
Around the recreation ground, two gulls fed quietly on the grass while a magpie and wood pigeon launched skyward. Then the wind truly took hold. As twenty rooks swirled wildly overhead, the heavens opened. Up went my brolly, and instantly inside out it turned! Near-jogging against the tempest, I spent the rest of the trek battling the stubborn canopy as it flipped inside out again and again.
Reaching the leisure centre at last, I spotted one brave feral pigeon holding the fort on the rooftop edge.
