Daily Nature Log. 13th October 2026

Daily Nature Log ✍️
A biting 25 mph westerly wind slashed today’s 13°C down to a chilly 10°C, but the blustery trail was teeming with life. A real, traditional light brown Spaniel led the way, while magpies pecked furiously at uncut turf and wood pigeons scattered overhead.
It was a proper canine parade route: a yellow Labrador, a majestic brown Alsatian, a lively Jack Russell, and finally a grey Schnauzer all out making the rounds. The rookery buzzed with chatter, a blackbird sounded his alarm before darting away, and I even caught a swift snapshot of a male muntjac deer before it melted into the hedgerow. Among the leaf litter, bright bursts of sweet alyssum and pale evening primrose added a dash of cheer to the day.
