Daily Nature Log ✍️

Step out into a fresh 18 mph southwesterly bite, and even at 13°C, you know you are alive! Bright red berries weigh down the ornamental hollies, though a flock of feasting wood pigeons quickly scatters as I pass. En route to the recreation ground, the local rooks are in fine, clamorous voice, joined briefly by the sight of a golden-coloured Cockapoo out on its rounds.

At the rookery, full-blown avian bedlam erupts—a roaring, grating chorus of caws echoing for miles across the rooftops. Further down toward the leisure centre, a brave little feline adventurer creeps out from the care home hedge, bides its time, and makes a daring dash across the tarmac toward the railway line. With the local sentinel gull keeping watch from a nearby roof and two corvids sharing the leisure centre peak with a feral pigeon, it is another splendid afternoon on the beat.
